What is WPC
Wood-plastic composites (Wood-Plastic Composites, WPC) is a new type of composite material that has developed vigorously at home and abroad in recent years. Inorganic wood fibers are mixed into the new wood material. Inorganic wood fiber is a mechanical organization composed of lignified thickened cell walls and fiber cells with fine crack-like pits, and is one of the main components of the woody part. The wood fiber used in the textile and garment industry is viscose fiber converted from wood pulp through the production process.
What are the characteristics of WPC materials
The basis of wood-plastic composites is high-density polyethylene and inorganic wood fibers, which determines that it has some characteristics of plastics and wood.
1. Good processing performance
Wood-plastic composites contain plastics and fibers, so they have processing properties similar to wood: they can be sawed, nailed, and damaged, and can be completed with woodworking tools. The nail-holding force is significantly better than other synthetic materials. The mechanical properties are superior to wood materials, and the nail holding power is generally 3 times that of wood and 5 times that of multi-layer boards.
2. Good strength performance
Wood-plastic composites contain plastic, so they have good elasticity. In addition, because it contains fibers and is fully mixed with plastic, it has physical and mechanical properties equivalent to hardwood such as compression and bending resistance, and its durability is significantly better than ordinary wood materials. The surface hardness is high, generally 2-5 times that of wood.
3. Moonlight resistance, corrosion resistance, long service life
Compared with wood, wood-plastic materials and their products are resistant to strong acid and alkali, water and corrosion, do not breed bacteria, are not easy to be eaten by insects, do not breed fungi, and have a long service life, which can reach more than 50 years.
4. Excellent adjustable performance
Through additives, plastics can undergo changes such as polymerization, foaming, curing, and modification, thereby changing the characteristics of wood-plastic materials such as density and strength, and can also meet special requirements such as environmental protection, flame retardancy, impact resistance, and aging resistance.
5. It has UV light stability and good coloring property.
6. Source of raw materials
The plastic raw material for the production of wood-plastic composite materials is mainly high-density polyethylene or polypropylene, and the inorganic wood fiber can be wood powder, wood fiber, and a small amount of additives and other processing aids need to be added.
